Learning Environment Design

In this course we will explore the current thinking on how people learn and on how environment impacts learning and apply our findings to redesign learning spaces. Some elements of an environment that may matter are the diversity of formal and informal spaces, work flow, interconnections between spaces, light, color, physical dimensions, acoustic properties, furniture, layout, and technology. We will use design thinking and problem-based learning as our core guiding methodologies. As such, our processes will be useful in many situations, ranging from business to community to home. It is oriented to students actively doing applied research and/or thesis process.
